08:00 AM: Depart the hotel and drive for a few hours to Hoa Lu.
10:30 AM: Arrive Hoa Lu the ancient capital of Vietnam, established in 968 by Dinh Bo Linh, who became King Dinh Tien Hoang. For 41 years (968-1009), Hoa Lu served as the political, economic, and cultural heart of Dai Co Viet, the former name of Vietnam. This period encompassed 12 years under the Dinh Dynasty and 29 years under the Le Dynasty, led by King Le Dai Hanh. Though the capital shifted to Thang Long (present-day Hanoi) by King Ly Thai To in 1010, Hoa Lu’s significance remains. Today, two temples honoring Kings Dinh Tien Hoang and Le Dai Hanh stand on the old royal palace grounds, offering invaluable insights into Vietnam’s feudal dynasties and historical evolution. A short 5-minute walk leads to the boat station, where you’ll begin your scenic cruise along the Ngo Dong River.
