Swallow Cave trekking

Day 1: Phong Nha – Ban Doong Village – Hang En

Start your Swallow Cave trekking with a hotel pickup in Phong Nha between 7:30 am and 8:00 am, followed by a brief transfer to Oxalis Headquarters.

Before your Swallow Cave trekking adventure, you’ll receive a comprehensive safety briefing, collect your necessary equipment, and sign our Release Form. Following this, a 45-minute drive through the scenic National Park will bring you to the trailhead. At 10:00 am, you’ll leave the paved road behind and enter the lush jungle. The trek begins with a climb up a steep jungle hill, rewarding you with a refreshing river at its base. Your journey continues through vibrant primary forest, leading you to the Ban Doong minority village where a warm cup of tea awaits. A delightful picnic lunch will be enjoyed around 12:30 – 1:00 pm near the river. Afterwards, you’ll re-enter the jungle, traversing rivers and streams, and following the river valley until the magnificent Hang En (Swallow Cave) comes into view on the horizon.

Enter the realm of Swallow Cave trekking around 3 PM, allowing for a brief respite as the porters establish our campsite on the cave’s inner beach. The adventure continues over the next couple of hours as we trek through the remainder of the cave, culminating in the stunning exit, a vista renowned from its appearance in the movie Pan. Our return to camp follows a dry passage leading to a viewpoint high above, where you can observe fossils dating back 300 million years. Enjoy leisure time for relaxation or a refreshing swim in the natural pool before indulging in a delicious grilled dinner, accompanied by local rice wine and the ambient sounds of swifts soaring overhead.

Day 2: Hang En (Swallow cave) – Phong Nha

Awake at 8:00 am for breakfast and after packing your things, your Swallow Cave trekking adventure continues as you depart camp at 9:00 am, leaving Hang En behind with a final glimpse of its entrance, nearly concealed within the lush jungle.

After enjoying lunch with your group from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, your Swallow Cave trekking adventure begins its return leg. You’ll trek for an hour along a shaded path through the river valley, followed by a two-hour ascent up the hill to the designated pickup point between 2:00 and 4:00 PM. Our driver will be there to transport you back to Phong Nha, where you can expect to arrive between 4:30 and 5:30 PM.
